Winnie- the friendly bear

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

The bear Winnie was brought in 1914 in the London zoo from Lt. Harry Coleburn (a Canadian soldier) who bought the poor animal from a Canadian hunter who killed his mother. The Lt. named the bear after his hometown Winnipeg. After that the bear started to live with the solders and he followed them everywhere. When the solders had to leave for France they couldn’t take Winnie with them, so Lt. Harry Coleburn gave Winnie to the London zoo, where the friendly bear became attraction for many children, including Christopher Robin. Sometimes they even got in Winnie’s cage. Many children loved that bear.

The star Winnie

Friday, February 13th, 2009

In the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the star Winnie the Pooh is next to the actors Tim Allen, Rod Serling and Jane Russell. There are other Disney characters that had the honor to have a star in the Walk of Fame, before Winnie- Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.
The history of Winnie the Pooh starts on Christmas time in 1925 when the newspaper “London Evening News” published the first short story of A. A. Milne.
The inspiration of the sweet character comes from the author’s son- Christopher Robin, who is also part of the book itself. His favourite bear was named Winnie the Pooh to honor the bear Winnie from the London zoo.

Hollywood Walk of Fame

Monday, February 9th, 2009

The drawn hero Winnie the Pooh, a favourite character for many generations of children and grown ups, got his star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In the day of the ceremony many fans were waiting to see their idol, which appeared in modest manner dressed with its red T-shirt- the way we know him from the Disney animation.
The most expected guest was officially welcomed with orchestra. The guests on the ceremony were Winnie’s friends- Rabbit, Eeyore and Tiger. Unfortunately the other two of his best friends Piglet and Christopher Robin were not able to come, probably because of other engagements.

Roo

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Roo is a very small kangaroo. He is the youngest in the gang from The Hundred Acre Wood. Just don’t make the mistake of taking him for granted just because of his size or age. He lives his life with all his heart. Roo is enormously fun-loving and curious and he definitely has fun of discovering the secrets of life. He is very much capable of expressing feelings and thoughts and in the same time he looks at the world with concerned and loving manner. He is much wiser for his age exactly because of his innocent view of the world.

Tiger

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

Tigger is one-of-a-kind creature. He is an exuberant and he has a springy tail. He is very impulsive and his boisterous character leads him very often to leap before he looks. Tigger’s bouncing is a clean expression of his absolute enthusiasm for life. He likes to share that enthusiasm with his friends no matter if they want that or not. For example Rabbit is one of his regular victims. He is using the language in a very specific way and that is his trademark- twisting malapropisms and phrase. He is a very unique creature.
His favourite phrase is: “The wonderful thing about tiggers is that I’m the only one”.

Kanga

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

Kanga is Roo’s tender-hearted mother, but she is not only that she is as well a motherly figure to the rest of the Winnie Pooh gang. She is what people call the voice of reason. Kanga is full with mother’s intuition and she is a symbol of safety. Kanga knows when to give enough space to Roo so he can be a kid and in the same time she is very proud of Roo. Roo is much more wiser for his age and Kanga sees that and it fills her heart with so much pride- as any mother would be proud with her child. She is purely a mother.

Rabbit

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009

The smallest of the friends in the Hundred Acre Wood is almost certainly Rabbit. At least that is his opinion and very often he tries to become the leader of the gang. He can be really stubborn about his point of view and he frequently overreacts. No matter his shortcomings his friends know that under his yellow, bristly exterior lie a good heart. Even if he thinks that he is always right about everything Rabbit also have the ability to admit his mistakes. This is something that many creatures find difficult. If you think about it, everybody makes mistakes, but only a few have the decency to admit them.

Lumpy

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Lumpy is a very interesting character. He is certainly not the vicious and wild animal that Rabbit, Pooh, and the gang is taking him for. He is a very sweet, lilac and loving Heffalump. Lumpy is an innocent, sweet, and full with energy elephant who just wants to have fun, sing, and! With his clean uncontrolled spirit of a small child, Lumpy’s bubbly spirit and lovely little giggle make everybody to fall in love with him. You just don’t stand a chance against this adorable and cute personage. You can simply have fun with him and you can sing along.

Winnie

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

Winnie the Pooh is a plush bear, a hero from the stories and verses of A. A. Milne. He is one of the most popular literature personages from children’s books. There are two published literary miscellany: “Winnie the Pooh” (1926) and The House at Pooh Corner (1928) and many poems as well. The stories are separated and that allows them to be read and filmed independently. The books are published together or individually. In the second half of the 20th century for Winnie the Pooh are made animation movies from Disney and the Russian company “Союзмультфильм”. In that way the bear become very popular.

Piglet

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

The debut of Piglet character was in 1968 in “Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day”. He is small, cute and curious pink pig. You shouldn’t be misled by his small size, because no matter the size of this skittish and soft-spoken little fellow, he has outstanding humility and generosity. Piglet accepts himself as “a very small animal.” His occasionally stuttering, anxious wringing of hands and voice fastidious movements express his fear and nervousness of the unknown. He is known all over the world as one of the best Winnie the Pooh friends. He is small, but he has an enormous heart.
