Winnie- the friendly bear
Sunday, March 1st, 2009The bear Winnie was brought in 1914 in the London zoo from Lt. Harry Coleburn (a Canadian soldier) who bought the poor animal from a Canadian hunter who killed his mother. The Lt. named the bear after his hometown Winnipeg. After that the bear started to live with the solders and he followed them everywhere. When the solders had to leave for France they couldn’t take Winnie with them, so Lt. Harry Coleburn gave Winnie to the London zoo, where the friendly bear became attraction for many children, including Christopher Robin. Sometimes they even got in Winnie’s cage. Many children loved that bear.
